"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." Lao Tzu

Hi Pam and Peter!

The old chinese philosophers said it all...

As we approach the final millwork stages of your project, there continues to be the daily challenge of getting the details right. Of the many lessons I've learned through my time as a woodworker, the one that keeps me on course is to always simplify the process. One step at a time; doing the next right thing.

This project has been a journey, for you especially. The visions slowly begin to take physical shape and each small part becomes something larger and more complete. The accumulation of all the parts is now a work of art, it's now your home.

I was up at the house this week, measuring for the barn doors and it hit me. I was looking at the whole picture, the entire home and all of it's details. I was thinking about the thousands of single steps of so many talented people that it took to get here. Remarkable and breathtaking! The beauty of this build is that you can visually see everything. It's all transparent and in full view. The eye can wander into every inch and see the level of care, thought and skill that went into making it. Feeling that connection is what allows the journey to continue for years to come, for you and for all of us.

On that note, the steps for the millwork process are happening.

The island top is complete and finished. Thanks to Dan and his crew for helping with delivery. It took 4 of us to get each half into the house.

The milling of the bedroom/bathroom barn door parts is complete and ready for final dimensioning and assembly. We are working through the final details of the integrated hardware to get things just right.

The bedroom upper cabinets and both countertops are wrapped up and ready for install.

Single steps...

I hope you both are doing well and maybe we are able to cross paths during your upcoming visit. I will be out of town from 6/12-6/25, but hope to connect.

Til next time, be well.
